We arrived at the hotel around 3pm,checked in, grabbed a map of the city and were on our way!! After turning around a few times we finally got our bearings and headed to our first stop - CHEERS!!! Where everybody knows your name. I was instantly dropped back in time to when I was a teenager and watching the show, singing the theme song and laughing when everyone yelled ~ NORM!!! Being that Taylor is only 13 she didn't quite get the nostalgia but it was cool nonetheless. She ordered Fish and chips that were AMAZING!! Of course I had to have a Bloody Mary and it was very tasty. After a great lunch we headed out for more adventure, trying to figure out the layout of the City. We decided to head over to Prudential Center and the Sky Obeservatory which proved to be an interesting walk as we ran into several streets that seemed to deadend or circle around or change names.... LOL When we finally got there we started out at Copley Center and had to take the skywalk over to the Prudential Center. It wasn't until we spoke to two cops and 3 security guards (trying to find our way to the Sky observatory) that we found out that they were closed since the electricity had been out for several days, only to just be coming back on. So we headed back over to the hotel to relax and rejuvenate for the next day of exploration. Taylor, being 13 and full of energy, stayed up late "researching" places for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next day.
The next morning we figured out our game plan and then headed out for breakfast at the Thinking Cup, a great little cafe with excellent Coffee. Our first stop after breakfast was the New England Aquarium. On our walk over it started to drizzle which caused us to laugh hysterically about the way I had to carry the camera bag so it wouldn't get wet... We were successful. Once we got the aquarium we dried off and had a blast watching all the sea animals. Getting to touch the stingrays and small sharks was really neat. There was a small hammerhead that was very playful as was one of the stingrays. When we finished up at the Aquarium we headed over to the Old State house and learned about the Boston Massacre, which by the way the tour guide told the story it didn't sound like a massacre to me....but who knows. It was really neat to hear about history as an adult, especially that I don't really remember most of it from when I was growing up. After the history lesson we headed over to Cheers at Faneuil Hall. The original Cheers was much better. But I had some really good beef stew. Then back to the hotel to relax a little before our dinner at Mare, a seafood restaurant with an Italian flare. It was yummy, especially the Tiramisu!! Taylor wasn't a fan but OMG it was good. Since she didn't like it we walked over the Mike's Pastries and got her a ginormous piece of Red Velvet Cheesecake. She was a happy camper. Then it was back to the hotel again to call it a night.
On our third day we set off to take a few pics, and learn the subway system. Especially since I our first destination, The Science Museum was a LONG walk and my knees were really sore. I know my favorite part of the Science Museum was the Cosmic Collision movie we watch at the planetarium. After the Science Museum we headed back over to Faneuil hall to walk around and see the sites for St Paddy's Day. Lot's of fun costumes and ALOT of green of course! We ate at Anthem Kitchen and Bar, mainly because it was the only place that we could get in with Taylor not being 21..... We had the MOST AMAZING hamburgers!! Then it was off to walk around some more. We started to wear down a little so we headed back to the hotel to rest up. After a couple hours of laying around rejuvenating we decided to head down Newberry Street and over to the Sky Observatory which was finally open. Up on the 50th floor we were able to have a great view of the city. Then it was off for our final dinner of our trip. We just got a pizza to share at Papa Razzi's. It was really good. I had an amazing glass of wine and then we had a cup o joe. When we were done we headed back to the hotel to pack and get some rest before our EARLY morning treck to the airport to head home.
I had an amazing time with my beautiful daughter. We plan to make this a yearly tradition and go to a new city each year.
